Kowhaea (mother) the source of life, nurturing, strength, and unconditional aroha.

This contemporary kākahu is inspired by the women who came before us. The māmā, the kuia, the wāhine who carried our stories, stitched our korowai, and held our whānau together. It honours their resilience, quiet power, and the legacy passed through generations.

The tāniko panel is fully hand-beaded, inspired by my mother’s korowai, a design I will forever cherish.

Finished with layered chicken feathers, creating softness, movement, and presence.

Each Kōwhaea Kākahu is made to order in our Napier studio.
